Landmark events of computers and nursing
Computers have played a big role in nursing. It has helped nurses make their work easier and efficient. As I have read the landmark events of computers and nursing, I can really say that these little improvements helped in developing nursing as a whole as well.

One particular year which is 1996, the American Nursing Association (ANA), established nursing information and data sets evaluation center which is also called (NISDEC). the purpose of this was to develop and spread standards relating to the given information systems that support the documentation of nursing practice and to be able to evaluate the voluntarily submitted information systems to these standards. Which is targeted for the consumers and the vendors of the clinical information systems. This was sponsered by the American Nursing Association (ANA) Database Steering Committee namely Rita Zielstorff, Chair Connie Delany, Vice-Chair. The site was in Washington DC.

This is one of the important milestones computers and nursing have made and I think that it has made a big difference as we can see today computers are still innovating to help not just the nursing industry but the whole world.

Extreme measures

Hi, for this blog, I would like to share about the movie I watched last meeting at my Informatics class. It was named Extreme Measures. At first, I really did not know anything about it. My teacher, Sir Rozaldy Santiago, picked the movie for us. It was interesting enough for me to watch the whole movie because it had a hospital setting which me and my classmates can relate to since we are aspiring to become nurses one day.

Although, My teacher wanted us to read between the lines and be able to cite instances where computers were used since it is our informatics class. As I watched it again, I really think that computers played a significant role in the hospital or the medical setting in general. In the movie, the doctors or the Triphase wanted to research on a cure for the paralyzed patients which require a lot of experiments. This gave me an idea how computers are important for the development of the future since we all want to have an improved world which is instant and be able to cure diseases like being paralyzed. Also, that computers were also used in the hospital setting even simple machines as being able to have a patient’s heart rate being taken by a machine. Also, I think that it had made it easier for the doctors to research because they had the technology at hand. Being able to research is an important thing especially that all good inventions start with a good idea. However, I really thought that it was bad being able to steal lives in the process of researching.

Overall, I really think it was a good movie, It really showed the reality of what’s happening to the world and especially how I can think about what I want to be the kind of person I am in the future.

another day, another opportunity to learn

             Today, I have learned a lot of things after our discussion on our informatics subject. Our teacher has taught us about how computers or informatics in general can help us in our profession as a nurse. Which for me is an interesting topics since at college we often ask ourselves "will this course ever help me in the future?" "Will I ever use this knowledge?". This might be a popular question but in a long run, we will actually have answers to question when we grow old. In this class, I was able to learn more about what computers can do to my course and be able to know what I can do when I chose this path.

          Well, today, I now know that computers can help us in our everyday duties as a nurse like for example, keeping our patient's data or being able to have a system where we can able to access all the history a patient can have. Also, that I am really inspired to being an Informatics Innovator  or being an informatics nurse specialist because I could be able to conduct researches as I am able to help my own patients and I can also be able to use more advances tools to be able to do my job better. Although, having data computerized or making electronic patient records have development constraints such as, being able to have a standard clinical terminology, concerns about data privacy confidentiality and security since some people know how to hack in to other computers. With that, privacy will be a problem when records are now changed to the computer. Also, data entry challenges will be hard since not all of the people are very good at handling computers and some might need more enhancement and lastly, the integration of records and other information resources. On the other hand, having it computerized has more benefits. It can be able to help not just the nurses but all the people in the medical field, like doctors, midwives, specialist and more importantly the patients. It will create a system that will make it more efficient. Like for example being able to access data in a faster way and be able to asses the patient faster since we now know what their past medical history is.

          Overall, I think that today’s lesson was interesting and helpful. It is because I am able to know and have more ideas of what I can be in the future. Also, it opened myself to a new perspective. Especially, that today, our technology is advancing and what other way can we do to help that to be able to improve and be able to give care as nurses in a better way. Lasly, as Atenean nurses, I think that if this will pursue in the future, it will be a product of magis and that I could still live by the words “men and women for others”. Since, we nurses have on goal being able to improve the health of population community, family and individuals.

What have I learned today?

Today, I had my Informatics class and because of my teacher, I have learned more about the Internet. Other than it's definition which was discussed earlier, the internet is a network of networks, joining many government, university and private computers together and providing an infrastructure for the use of email and etc. I have learned about its history and how they have came up with the internet we are using today which I think that was really a historic event in the past because as we can see today the internet is used widely today. Like for example, Sputnik 1 which was the first artificial satellite on earth owned by the USSR, the IMP also known as the Interface message processor,he ARPANET which was a military project and then being able to make the telenet the first comercial verson of ARPANET.

As, I am listening to the discussion, I have learned the basic parts that we can find while using the internet, like for example, the search engine that is an internet tool that locates web pages and sorts then according to specified keywords. Also, the parts of the URL or the Uniform Resource Locator.  Other than the meaning of the "WWW" on our URL which means "world wide web", I have learned more parts of the URL like the http;// symbol also means hypertext transfer protocol. Also, that the .com is an example of top level domain the html is a hypertext markup language. Another was that I have learned the purpose of having an DNS or the domain name system because it is used to locate and it is easy to remember. Also, there are top level domains(TLD) which fall under categories namely, the Generic Top-Level Domains(gTLD) these are the most common domains that most people heard of like the .COM .ORG etc. Another, is the Generic-Restricted Top-Level Domains which is similar to the generic top level domain but only eligibility is intended to be restricted and ascertained more stringently examples are the .BIZ or .PRO.Next, is the sponsored top-level domain(sTLD) these are the domains that are sponsored or proposed by private agencies or organizations that establish and enforce rules restricting the eligibility to use the TLD examples of which are .AERO or .ASIA. Next, is the Country code Top-level domains (ccTLD) are generally used for specific dependent territory and country. Lastly, the reserved top-level domains for range of pursposes like infrastructures, testing and support of international organizations. 

Although, I have learned all of this and that the internet is free, I have learned that the internet follows the TCP or IP which means the standard protocol followed by the internet and today, we have several ISP or Internet Service providers.

1.5 There are two "Songs" that interwove. Identify and describe each.


                    One of the two songs is the "song of the family" he described it as a clear and soft sound. A part of the song was Juana singing softy an ancient song that had only three notes and yet endless variety interval.  


                     The 2nd song was the "The song of Evil" it was described as the music of the enemy, of any foe of the family, a savage, secret, dangerous melody, and underneath the song of the family cried plaintively.


1.12 the doctor's answer to the servant. '' i am a doctor not a veterinary'' is a very cruel response. why?




                           Yes, it is a very cruel answer because he is insulting the "little Indian" as a domestic animal. It is such a very rude thing to say just because he is Indian he will be insulted. All people should be respected in their religion, citizenship, etc.

2.2 what was the one thing of value that kino owned? why it is valuable?


                           Kino`s most valuable thing was canoes. It is very valuable because it his grandfather brought it to nayarit and passed it on to Kino's father and Kino's father gave it to him. Therefore the canoes were very old and it is like treasure to him.


2.9 Describe the great pearl.


                                  The pearl were as perfect as moon. It captured the light and refined it and gave it back in silver incandescence. It was as large as a seagull's egg. It was the greatest pearl in the world. This pearl is very expensive because it is hard to get this.

that was the most humiliating thing that happened to my life. :O wanna know what is it? well. its a secret. HAHAHA! :)) well its too humiliating to say it. you`ll laugh your heart out. --" bet you didn't  do it like i did. anyways, i guess i wont do that again. * obviously * i don't regret anything though. because if i didn't do it then i would live wondering. yes. i am mad at myself because i did it but that doesn't mean i wouldn't do it if i had the chance. lol. anyway. im out. ^^
